This probably should be in the "other pets" section, but as people have had pancreatitis with their goldens, I wanted to ask: How long does it take before the Rx Pancreaved (pancreatic enzyme) helps diarrhea?
I took my 10 year old cat to the vet yesterday and he put him on this Rx. Told me to come back in a week if this isn't helping and we'll consider other options.

Are you using tablets or powder?
Gunner has Exocrine Pancreatic Insufficiency, which is different from Pancreatitis (I think) but it looks like it's treated with the same type of enzymes.
We use the powder - started him on Rx Viokase and his stools started to firm up almost immediately.
There are quite a few enzyme supplements out there, with different levels of amylase, protease and lipase. It can take some trial and error to find the brand, and the dosage, that works.

I don't think this is pancreatitis.

copper has had two bouts of pancreatitis. the first one 3 years ago and the next one (hopefully last) the first of september.

Pancreatitis is a life threatening emergency situation most often caused by a pet receiving too much fat in his food or table scraps (the cause of Copper's first episode) and can be triggered by a too abrupt change in food protein source (the cause of his last episode).

I suppose Pancreatitis would affect cats the same way. If you cat wasn't diagnosed with pancreatitis, you might get better info if you have the title modified to better reflect what is going on with your cat.

I'm sorry I don't have better advice or information to offer. I hope your cat gets better quickly.

I read up on Pancreatitis and it gave a number of possible causes (like ones you named) but that also there is a genetic predisposition in Siamese cats. My cat is Siamese. He has been vomitting and now started diarrhea. The vet checked him yesterday and put him on this pancreatic enzyme.
