Congratulations! Ella is gorgeous. Just resign yourself to the fact that for a couple of weeks you will be on your toes for more hours than you think you can stand. But you will do it just fine. Keep the coffee pot on at all times and the camera always in your hand.

Ella is so pretty- ten pounds is a good-sized puppy. I love how they get cornflake-smelling paws when they sleep and the puppy dragon breath. Congratulations.

Alas, Homecoming for Baby Ella....and what an adorable pup she is!

I think the 3rd pic is my favorite but I love 'em ALL.

Can't wait to see more and watch her grow up on here. :)

Thank you everybody for all your praise! This is so exciting...I never want to go to work again (i wish)...I just want to play and work with her all day!

Ella and I have had another busy day together and I think we're making significant progress together...I can't get over how smart she is! We've moved leaps and bounds forward on the house training today...now we've got to work on the crate a bit more. Her personality is AWESOME - feisty but able to be reasoned with, fun but also sweet and cuddly. What fun! And I have some more pics and videos waiting to be uploaded so stay tuned!

Congratulations on your new pup! I commend you for taking on this challenge by yourself! What a fantastic journey you are taking! Glad to hear she's a fast learner-you will be amazed at how quickly she picks up what you teach her. Good luck with the housetraining! She'll get the hang of it, I promise!

thanks for the encouragement...actually everyone on this forum has been really helpful and supportive...I *knew* it would be tough raising her on my own, but the reality of it is of course sinking in now (like, uh, how do I just run to the grocery, or take a shower, or just pop two doors down to go buy a bottle of wine(!) when she's not yet comfortable being confined in her crate and there's no one to just watch her for 10 mins?). I live in NYC and everything is 'just next door', but there's no way I'm leaving her alone in my apartment for even a minute without supervision!

Anyway, at the end of her first day home, after I'd picked her up mid-pee about 30 times and plopped her on the wee wee pad only to see her stare at me confused, she went and hid in her crate from me. I was so upset that I'd pushed her too much...but she came out on her own shortly thereafter and today has been a star! Makes you realize how sensitive and smart goldens really are...I feel reassured that Ella will be a great partner and work with me to make this a really great journey for both of us...
