Got him exactly a week ago today. :smooch: His name is Toby. His owner was moving to Hawaii and couldn't take him or her other dog, a 15 yr old beagle. I don't know how anyone could do that, I know I couldn't, but I suppose she just couldn't afford it, or want to put her dogs through the quarantine procedure (it's 6 mos in a kennel there if you don't do the proper way here). She didn't want to put them through that as they were older. The beagle winded up at a beagle rescue and I got him. He seems like he's in good health. She had just gotten a dental and all his shots updated. I got all his records from his previous vet and he was there his whole life. They kept up on everything and he was neutered at 6 mos of age. She did say he was gotten at a Pet Store, so god knows what type of "breeder" (i use that term very loosely) he came from..

It was a veryy long day. Lilly, my golden, and I had gone to an obedience match first and then headed over into Maryland to get him (another hour and 45 mins away from our already 45 mins we were from home). She gave me his kennel, a new bag of food, 12 mos of heartworm and flea medication and his bowls. He got to meet Lilly and he seemed to like her. I wasn't worried about Lilly, she's my guinea pig dog I use to test other dogs, she knows how to read and react properly to dogs. My next test was my Jack Russell at home, who is good but a little bit too excited:doh:. Well he was a bit to happy to see him and Toby didn't care too much but he tolerated it well. They had one argument but it was more of a show/talk then anything because neither one had even a wet spot from each others mouth. They have since gotten into 2 other arguments but no wounds..well Toby did bite his big tongue one time I think but not bad. I'm ok with them working things out for themselves as long as no one gets hurt.

He's still adjusting to being here.. :( he was quite stressed the first few days but is starting to settle in. Him and the Jack Russell will lay together :)and Lilly likes to try to play. Toby does growl when he plays which will take some getting used to because I've only had my first dog who did that and all the others don't..I have heard a difference between the play growl and the leave me alone growl so I can read him pretty good.

enjoy the pics of him at home , sorry for them being side ways..lol not sure whats going on, trying to use photobucket but not working for me ..starts with the first days and then after. His eating has been off and been enticing him with can food. Just hoping it's still nerves. He has taken to my hubby which is good because he wanted to kill me for bringing another dog home.I just couldn't say no:D

He is a doll! Love boxers cause they continue to be "silly" their whole life. You are an angel for taking this boy in. Keep us abreast on how he adjusts and if your JRT starts having fun with him. Welcome Toby to your forever home.

Bless you for taking in Toby and giving him a good home to spend his senior years in. My heart breaks for those 'old souls' whose owners are forced to, or choose to give them up.

Thanks all! Hes very sweet and im hoping i can make his golden years great!

He did end up giving the jack a puncture on the side of his mouth but I do believe the jack started it. He can be a little possessive of food and I think he smelled the bowl of food that Toby had left (even though it was way up out of reach). He use to do that to my other boxer but he didn't fight back much, Toby is kind of fighting back. Now I just have to make sure all food is away period.:uhoh: It wasn't a bad wound, I'm just hoping sanford learns soon. They still laid together last night so it must not be that bad.

The other I have to watch out for is Lilly just came into heat..:crossfing so we'll see how the boys react. Wonder if that's at all affecting some of the tension. Both the boy dogs were neutered at 6 mos of age but I know the last time Lilly was in heat she was "throwing" :uhoh: herself at Sanford when it was "time". I had to separate for a bit so Sanford wouldn't hurt himself.
