its coming into summer here so i bought him one of those baby pools shaped like a sea shell. i tried to lure him in with food but he is just so scared. i picked him up to put him in and he was squirming and crying .... he also hates baths... how can i get him to love the water? He's getting his 3rd vaccination today which means i can finally take him places, and id love to take him to places with water!

Some dogs just like water more than others. Your pup is still very young, so he is going to have an obvious fear of it since it is new and he is still unsure of it. Whatever you do, just don't force him into the water. He needs to have a chance to gradually get used to it. Picking him up and putting him in there while he is actively squirming and crying could result in a permanent fear of water. Try standing in the pool yourself and call him in using an excited and happy voice like you're having the time of your life. You can use treats to entice him. Just take it slow and don't rush him.

Not unusual at all. Give it time and when he is older take him to a beach with a water loving dog and he will learn very fast.

Give it time. Mine all hate the baby pools but love to swim in lakes and the beach. And of course my Pawley loves the pool. The best thing is to take him to a place that you can walk in the water and better if it has other dogs.
