Wonderful weekend at the IABCA show. Socks won two Best Bred by Exhibitor in Shows and a Reserve Best Bred by Exhibitor in Show. She was Best of Breed three times and Best of Breed Bred by Exhibitor at all four shows. She won every group competition she was in except one where she took group two to my friend’s lovely AKC Champion GSP.
Such a great weekend inspite of a rather unpleasant local breeder being there. She is one of those “English Cream” breeders who goes to these shows with her girls because all dogs entered almost always get titles even when they are last place.
I was speaking with a young new handler and this breeder literally yelled the girl’s name from like 60 feet away to make the young handler stop talking to me. This was not her kid, she was her friend’s kid. I had conversations with the kid and her mom with no issues but this breeder just couldn’t stand that the young handler was talking to me. I am always supportive of new handlers and juniors in particular but this breeder is unhinged because I pointed out her breeding program’s lack of health certifications when GRF member was mislead. As unpleasant as this person was, it could not eclipse Socks being undefeated in the female Golden competition, rocking it in groups and getting recognized repeatedly at the Best in Show level competitions.
I have a 3.5 year old golden who usually goes for short walks twice a day and a couple of times a week he goes to a daycare and he plays with other dogs. Is this enough exercise? How much should an adult golden have? He's about 89lbs so overweight.
I have a 3.5 year.old golden who only goes out to pee/poo 2x.a day, which is when we take him out for a walk. Once in the morning and another in the evening. He only goes during the walks. If I take him in the middle of the day, he will go, but if I don't, he doesn't seem bothered. Is...
Just wanted some opinions on permitting swimming in the colder months. I have been following the rule of 100, (air and water temp combined must equal at least 100) based on some research, but would like other golden owners opinions. I live in the northeast but go to a Delaware beach most...
I took my lovely fur baby, Graham, to get his annual vaccinations and a well needed trim at the vet. The groomer asked if I wanted him to be shaved. The “shave”’word gives me anxiety when in reference to my Graham because I know double coated dogs are not supposed to be shaved. I immediately...
Who watched? That Golden was SO close to Best in Show. I thought maybe the Boxer, Whippet or Shetland sheepdog would challenge the Golden. Never the poodle. Oh well, all dogs looked great. Hard to believe a Golden has never won Best in Show. Maybe next time.
