Is she able to keep down some water? If not, I'd be concerned about dehydration. Usually the rule of thumb is to withhold food for 24 hours to let their stomach settle. Then little bits of food... like boiled hamburg with rice. However, if she's dehydrating she should be seen.

Hi

Lucy threw up 5 times today - she has an apetite and will run around and play - could this be food poisoning or a stomach virus?

In most all respects she is ok - she heaved up her morning food 3 times and the last two vomits were dry heave piles of the yellow fluid

Thanks
Every time my dogs have thrown up repeatedly with a bunch a bile (yellow fluid), it's been very bad news. I'd check for dehydration like Betty suggested and if Lucy is dehydrated, get her seen sooner. Here is a great STICKY from Iowa Gold on this: http://www.goldenretrieverforum.com/golden-retriever-health-anatomy-physiology-breed-standard/100015-what-do-about-stomach-upsets.html
