Been lurking for a little while. My wife and I have visited several breeders over the past few weeks and we have even left a deposit at one. I would love to converse with some owners regarding the breeders we are looking at. If discussing them publicly on this forum is a no-no then we could use PM's. Any assistance would be greatly appreciated. The breeders we are looking at are: Twin-Beau-D, Pebwin and Brookshire.

Generally speaking, people talk about breeders fairly openly. I don't own dogs from any of the breeders you've posted, but can you tell us what kind of dog you might be looking for? Do you want an active companion? A dog who can compete in obedience or agility? A hunting dog? A house pet? A backyard fetching machine? A conformation competition (i.e., "show dog") dog?

I have friends with multiple dogs from Twin-Beau D & Pebwin. Feel free to PM or email me if you have any questions. Both are reputable breeders. I believe Brookshire is as well, but I don't have any first hand experience with them. :)

I appreciate the feedback from all of you. Some background, my wife and I and our families have had several generations of Goldens. Our most recent family member, whom we lost over two years ago was from Cloverdale in CT.

As of last night we have narrowed it down to Twin-Beau-D and Brookshire. We have visited both and were extremely impressed with the dog, pups and owners. The two owners have completely different personalities which caught us off guard but they were both extremely knowledgeable and impressive with long histories of breeding.

Kayak, we are looking for a family dog and do not, at least at this time, plan on competing at any level. My wife and I are quite active (hiking, boating, swimming, running, etc.) so we need a dog that can keep up but also one that can "chill out" because when we relax we like to RELAX.

We would obviously like a dog that is intelligent and has a great temperament as we will be raising children with this dog eventually.

SunGold, I cannot exchange PM's would conversing via e-mail be a possibility?

Hi Ilovegold,

Welcome to the forum. Just start replying to messages or adding a hello or two. You could hit 15 messages in less than an hour if you want.

Actually when you replied to people above...could have split that into three messages!! :wavey:

I love Goldens because they're able to keep up outdoors and yet, when properly exercised, they're mellow indoor companions. I would be very honest about your lifestyle when you talk to breeders; a super-mellow dog from showlines might not be as suitable for hiking and running as a dog with some field ability and drive.

Kayak, appreciate the feedback and that is exactly why we love goldens as well. I should not have included running in our list above as we will not run with the dog. But hiking/walking are definitely in the mix.

I'm not from your area and don't have advice on those breeders, except to say that 3 generations back in my dog, Molson's, pedigree, he has some Twin-Beau-D's dogs. Not that that helps much! ;)

Anyway, welcome to the forum and I wish you lots of luck in your puppy search. I hope you'll stick around so we can watch him/her grow!

esSJay, every little bit helps. The dog in your signature looks beautiful so I am glad to hear that Twin-Beau-D was involved at some point in time. I will try my best to keep everyone up to date when we finally do bring one home and throughout the years.

Nice job on your research! All three of the breeders are experienced, and produce lovely pups.

Liberty, what a beautiful bunch you have there. My wife and I were very impressed with the Brookshire dogs and the owner. We are searching for ways to make a decision between the two; we seriously cannot decide.

Thank you Ljilly; the entire process has been fun but a little stressful. :)

Hi and welcome from Massachusetts :wavey:

Cubbysan has a male from Twin-Beau-D and Kimm has a male from Pebwin. Biscuit and Sasha (my dogs) have Twin-Beau-D in their background. Both are very smart and active dogs. Good luck in your search.

My dog Brady is a Twin Beau D puppy. He will be three in November. We are very happy with him. If we did not decide to rescue our new puppy, I would have gone back to Nancy in a heartbeat.

I will PM you my phone number.

Thank you for the information. Looks like a great gang you have there.

I think either of these breeders will give you a great pet. I did pull out my two boys pedigrees and found Tucker has both Twin-Beau-D and Pebwin in his pedigree. Murphy has Twin-Beau-D. They are both wonderful dogs. I know I'm biased, but oh well. Good luck with your search.

Pebwin is one of the greats. Pebwin's XPDNC (Expediency) is one of the more well liked goldens.

And he happens to be Gilmours Grandpop :)
