I've kept a thread over in the Golden Retriever Puppies up to One Year section until today because Logan is now a year old! We'll update this thread with photos of Logan's adventures.

Happy birthday to my sweet boy. It took him a second to warm up to the silly misshapen hat.

Logan had a walk today and then we went to our field training lesson. After, it was spa day time and we played fetch and then with his Chewbacca toy. He loves that thing — carries it around like a baby all the time.

I heard from our new obedience instructor — her name is Jane Johnson — and we now have our first lesson scheduled for this coming Tuesday. She said she enjoyed watching Logan and me in the ring and she could tell we have a relationship. She said he’s very tuned in to me and I’ve done a fine job with him so far. Awww! She said he’s a lovely Golden with so much potential. After that, she went on about putting an OTCH on him, but she hasn’t seen my handling skills yet. :ROFLMAO: Anyhoo, I think she will be a great private lesson instructor and we are looking forward to it.

A photo from field training and Logan’s usual spa day face. :D

Oh, and at field Cara had me put Logan behind my car while she threw three bumpers out into the water and then I brought him along to watch as she threw the fourth dumbbell. He then went to pick up each one and then did two more water retrieves after that. Next we worked on casting - left back, right back, left over, and right over. Lastly, we walked forever and let Logan watch a dumbbell being tossed and then we walked a long, long way back. I could not remember where the dumbbell was (haha), but Logan ran a long way and went straight to it and brought it back — so that was good.

Hahaha that's funny about the Chewbacca toy and Logan 😅! Ramses got a free toy back in February - a donut one from the vet here in the US (I think he is in love with our vet because he looks out for her when we pass by the practice - which is close to my home). He loves bringing it out on walks in the evenings/nights. He never used to be interested in doing that before though.. Also love Logan's serious face during grooming! Ramses is always so solemn when he takes a bath and then promptly will start falling asleep 😩 - we are now two just to groom him. One person solely to keep him awake and that results in him being annoyed with us 😂

We walked, visited the grands (Charlotte’s team won 5-1), and played fetch by the tennis courts because there’s more shade. A man and lady cleaning the clubhouse watched for a while. Logan either comes back into heel or if I jump and make me legs wide he will run through them and “squish” means to come back through from behind and back to being in front of me. The lady said, “You sure have a smart dog.” 😃💗

Logan finds me hilarious at times 🤪 :

The grands. Grace is definitely in relaxed Saturday morning mode. Charlotte is fresh from her soccer game:

He’d like to be allowed to swim in the neighborhood pool behind him. Luckily, we have one and that will soon be our activity when we are here in Columbia because it gets so hot:

We did field training today. We had the opportunity to train with three other dogs — two Chessies, one conformation Lab, and well — there was a 16 month old Beagle puppy there who was just hanging out. He was the prettiest Beagle I’ve ever seen.

Logan did a double duck retrieve, a long bumper retrieve, and a triple water retrieve. He also honored and did some casting.

After field training I gave Logan a spa day, a walk, and some fetching fun.

The man who drew Logan in pencil — I’ll put the photo in this thread also — has a FB page and his friends thought he had photoshopped the duck into Logan’s mouth. 🙃 They said he was too pretty to be doing field training. 😂

Thank you, Robin! I love him so much. We all do. He is so great around the grands. They are getting old enough (10, almost 8 and almost 6/and Logan is still young), so I think they will always remember him. We walk by to visit them and play in their front yard often. Plus, Britt and family have practically moved back in with us living two blocks away. :ROFLMAO:

I never knew just how much fun and engagement I could have with a dog doing all we do together. Our new instructor said she noticed when she saw us getting our BN that what we have that is so obvious is a close connection with each other. That made me feel good.

I am heading to DC to see my son, so Logan will be leading more of a life of leisure through Sunday. I have hired a dog walker, who will take him for a walk each morning and I believe, on Saturday, they are attending a charity walk event with dogs/for dogs. Thomas (dog walker) says Logan does great on their walks. They visit Thomas’ mother in our neighborhood and she walks with them for a bit. Thomas said the only thing Logan perks up at in the neighborhood is the group of feral cats that live on a street near the back gate. A lady feeds them back there. I told him we all notice that group of feral cats.

My brother will be keeping Logan and Abby at our house.

Certainly not a biased opinion.....

I’m back home. D.C. was fun and I love seeing Brian, Jr., but I miss my dogs. Logan is very happy to see me.

His competition obedience dumbbells came in. I ordered two. He doesn’t have class or private lesson this week, but we will start working with it on our own.

I trained Logan twice yesterday and he had two walks. This is from our second walk and Brian (my husband) had decided to walk a bit farther since we had walked more than him on the front end of the walk. He met up with us about halfway through. Logan did not appreciate his departure and was monitoring him through the woods.

I need to give Logan a bath before we leave on Friday, but now rain is predicted. Not sure what I will do. He’s beautiful either way. We have a black tie wedding in the upstate and Logan has a handler cues workshop on Saturday morning. The wedding and workshop are only separated by about a 30 minute drive, so I decided to rent a VRBO and take Logan with us for the entire weekend. My brother will be pet sitting Abby.

Logan and I went to agility this morning and he did so well. We haven’t been in a couple of weeks and Logan easily ran the Open course with 12 weaves Alison had set up. She said he’s way ready for novice, but we won’t trial until September. We are too busy. He generally takes summer off from agility because it’s too dang hot here, but if we start training again in September, Alison thinks he will be find to trial. Logan never forgets anything.

Brian just came home and took Logan for a walk because I have a hair appointment at 2:30 and have to leave here by 2:00. Logan looked thrilled to be heading out with no rules man. Haha

From agility today. This was our fourth and last run and Logan missed his weave entry. He had been doing them so well and faster and the minute we pull out the phone to record it… 😅

Alison and I have noticed Logan will only entertain us for so long and then he’s like, “Look here, ladies. I have run this course for you three perfect times and I’ve had enough of you.” Lol

This is a pretty good, perhaps not for the pros like yourself.. 😅 I've been away for work back in Europe so my husband decided to do something else with Ramses and decided on agility... And it was a huge and spectacular fail 🤣 He placed the equipment (he borrowed from a colleague) on the field and started to get Ramses ready.. but Ramses had other ideas and started to chase after all the birds instead and would not stop - he thought it was a free bird hunting session.. That agility session lasted all but 5 seconds before my husband packed up everything 🤣🤣🤣

Logan did great — we were just laughing because he was nailing his weaves until we started recording. We need to record earlier. Lol

Logan used to zoomie all over the agility field. 🤣

Logan's such a good boy! 😊 I bet he was having zoomies out of excitement! Ramses on the other hand is cheeky and he sometimes likes to try and see what he can get away with - especially with my husband .. I only wished I had been there to capture what happened 🤣

These dogs are so smart when they see the phone/camera being whipped out and you can't capture what you want...

We attended our handling cues workshop today from 9:00 to 1:00. Logan did so well! I’m exhausted. Yesterday we drove a couple of hours to Greenville and hosted a pre-wedding shower. Then this morning we went to our workshop. Now I have about an hour and then have to get dressed for a black tie wedding. We may go home right after the wedding.

Heres cutie patootie in between exercises at the workshop.

Logan was such a good boy yesterday and worked so hard, so today I told him he can do whatever he wants. We took a nice walk and let his hair blow in the breeze and he’s been playing with his toys. Right now he’s resting.

Next weekend, we will be heading to Kiawah for some rest and relaxation. Speaking of Kiawah, I just saw this news story, so I don’t think we’ll be heading to the beach.
