Hi,

I have been trying to search GRF for the links I have seen in the past on mature neutering/spaying. They talked about the health issues that went along with spaying or neutering early, particularly orthopedic issues.

Thanks!

For me personally, I will probably never neuter another male dog of mine, unless very specific health issues arise. I haven't yet made up my mind about my bitches once they have been retired from breeding.

As far as the pets that I sell are concerned, I am considering rewriting my contract to state 18-24 months for males and no earlier than 9 months for a bitch (and I prefer they have one heat but I understand it is difficult for pet owners to deal with this). I think this stacks the deck in favor of my dogs. Also, my dogs are typically extremely slow maturing-if I had dogs that matured very early, I might change my mind.
