So I posted awhile back when my dog first started limping at five months and they thought he had a ligament tear, then changed it to possible hip dysplasia. Now my dog is almost a year (end of July) and I’m noticing much more limping after exercise especially running. I take him to the fields to chase after balls that are thrown quite far. Today he ran and now this afternoon he barely wants to put weight on his right leg. I’ve also noticed that he has a mild limp on days without exercise right after getting up from lying down. We never did X-rays because our vet wanted to put him under to image and neuter at the same time. I didn’t want to neuter so refused. I was hoping to neuter at a year but obviously now I’m concerned about doing that. Is it ok to request X-rays of his hip and leg? I’ve called for an appt but they are saying they think they’ll just examine! I asked to please also X-ray - or is there something else to do to see what is going on? I gave him some meds today but he’s moping around. I just want to figure this out because he’s an active dog and loves to play fetch and run around. Both parents have good hip clearance. What should I do?!
