I don’t think it is a purebred because of the markings. Your pup appears to have a white patch on its paw. Goldens don’t have white in the dna. They also don’t show patches. Others more knowledgeable than me could explain why.

Ok. It is possible but unlikely, so maybe consider the traits others have pointed out, or possibly try a genetic test if you want to solve the mystery [emoji6]

My first thought is that there’s something else in the mix producing the high ear set and white markings. HOWEVER, when dogs aren’t selected for show type the appearance can drift away from standard. I’ve seen photos of field-bred Golden Retrievers with high ear sets and white markings and I imagine the same genetic drift might occur in other lines of Golden Retrievers.

Purebred or mix, he looks as if he’ll be a wonderful dog. Those eyes and that expression... so intelligent and attentive.

Your dog is just as loveable whether purebred or not - my first dog was a mix, with an amazing temperament. So yes, goldens can have white patches, especially if they have some field breeding in the background. That being said, I would guess your lil cutie might be a mix. If you are really, truly curious, you could do a DNA test. I wish those had been available when I had my girl, because we always wanted to know what her parents were like - she was such an incredibly sweet dog.

His ears are set very high. Almost makes makes me think he has a sprinkle of Sheltie. Could explain the white marking in his paw and narrower face? I know they have DNA kits you can get for dog similar to the human 23 and me kits. He is super cute.
