My daughter had the same yesterday up in the Shenandoah Valley area....about an inch or so. I think we might've had 1-2 inches at most. I'm currently at work about 12 miles east of our house and there's nothing left on the ground........
By now we usually have had at least a half decent storm or 2.. we have had nothing.. dusting yesterday was the first sign of snow and the weather has been all over the place..

We still have no snow and we are going to get rain soon starting tomorrow. We have been getting plenty of sunshine since last week - I was so confused by that... We never had nice sunny skies back in France at this time of the year. It's usually doom and gloom gray with wet melting snow. Yuck!

That's pretty but it's more than I usually want at one time. Every 2 or 3 years we get "The Big One!" When the storms come straight across the Appalachians we usually get less...maybe up to 3-4 inches. But if it swoops South and makes an end run around the mountains and then comes up through the Carolinas, we get a lot more ..8-12" sometimes. It's always wet snow too....snow blowers are few and far between, don't work as well with wet snow.....so it's shovel time. Don't have to dig the vehicles out right away 'cause everything is closed and there's no bread or milk left in the grocery stores anyway. Why do people buy all the bread and milk right before a snowstorm? I think pop tarts and beer are better options. If the power goes out, pop tarts don't need to be cooked and the beer will stay cold on the back deck.......
