My best friend's name is POCHI and is 2 years old. I am wondering how much exercise is needed to keep him healthy and happy. Any advise?

I would say at least an hour off the lead every day. I can't imagine how far you'd have to walk a dog on the lead to match the equivalent, so if at all possible I would allow time off the lead every day (and for your dogs enjoyment too!)

At the very least, 30 minutes to an hour of fast-walking I'd say, or about 30-45 mins of off-leash play time should be sufficient.

Some goldens have faster metabolism than others, so be sure to balance it out with the amount of food. If he is too big, cut down on the food and increase the exercise. If he is too thin (unlikely), add a little bit more food until you can easily feel but not see his ribs.

By the way, welcome and I love his name - my first pet was a monkey named Poochi! :)

If he is healthy, as much as possible.

I agree with Jenna. As much as possible to get some of that energy out!Klondike will be 2 in 3 days, and he is one BUSY boy! I try to take him out with Brody at least twice, three times a day if possible for them to either play chuck it, or just for them to run and run. They will do figure 8's at top speed after each other. Great exercise for them! My "Princess" Lexi LOL isn't like the boys, and doesn't like to run like they do. She is content to be all over the property here...just not RUN doing it!:smooch:
