I started training Murphy about a month ago. So far he knows sit, lay, stay, bed, wait (in kennel, at door, and at food dish), okay (release of wait) and high five. But he will only do these commands when there is no distractions and if I have treats. (well, he will do some without treats but responds better with them).
How long before he will follow directions in the face of minor distractions and in the face of major distractions. I know that I have to keep doing them everyday. I was just wondering how long it took for other goldens to acquire these skills - on average.
Whenever someone comes to my home, they want to see how well trained he is (I brag) but, all he wants to do is jump and lick and basically go crazy.
