My old golden only had a couple her entire life but when she did, I used Sulfodene skin medication for dogs. Worked very well.
Hot spot
Milly got a hot spot on her back - right where the tail starts - and I had to shave it to treat it. Well now she keeps wagging her tail, and it looks so weird, because there is no hair where the back meets the tail - it looks like this strangely shaped dinosaur like appendage when she wags it and I see the base of her unshaved tail moving. Just so you know, I only shaved the hot spot area, not her whole tail... but I guess those vertebrae move a lot, because it looks so strange!
