Hello everyone, I am Gabrielle and attached to my feet right now is a sleepy Golden Retriever called Tuuli who is almost a year old. As I cannot move my feet I might as well write my introduction and possibly it'll turn out to be looong and boring but forgive me, it's Tuuli's fault. In Germany I visit Retriever Forum a lot but I like to look at things from different angles so I googled my way through the net until I found you. I like the way people around here talk to each other, the way they seem to respect different approaches etc. Not all forums are good ones, I suppose. This one is my favorite.

Please keep in mind that my English might be awful from time to time, I never seem to care about grammar. But I have lived in your country twice, once when I was very young as an exchange student in California (Thousand Oaks, near the city of angels) and later on in Ann Arbor, Michigan. All together that was only for two years, not much to get to know the people. I moved back from the UK where we lived for six years last year, there I lived in the Shire and then in Essex. Obviously husband is working for an automotive company, hm. I moved to America with a German accent, everyone asked me whether I was Russian??? I worked on that and when I moved to England everyone asked me whether I was Irish?? or American?? Funny and nice people wherever you go.

But that's enough chatting about me me me the beautiful dog here is much more interesting than I am, especially since he is thinking things I cannot even imagine, well, I guess he does think because he looks like it, does that makes sense? And I have not been drinking! But he started giving me THE LOOK lately, this "I guess it's ok to live with you now that we started the whole thing ten month ago". It really warms my heart and by the Goddess I was not prepared that a dog can get under your skin so deeply. It's terribly precious and utterly frightening at the same time. I am curious about where he will lead us, I discover new things every day. I have learned to enjoy deep mud and puddle-skipping and staring at the horizon sniffing and getting out for hours rolling around in strange things, ok that's the thing I don't do, but it's nice to look at Tuuli enjoying just this.

Oh dear, he has finally moved, ahh my legs, I can feel them. Sorry for making no sense at all but I am just like that, what else do you expect from a German who loves Tori Amos, Retrievers, Gardening and John Irving's novels? I'm sending love and good thoughts to everyone out there, it is good for me to know that the love for dogs unites us, and looking at the idiot-box I hope we can celebrate what we share, and forget the things that divide us. Bye for now. Gabrielle and Tuuli

Welcome to the forum!

I am an American who loves Tori Amos and Golden Retrievers!!! I am a major Tori Amos fan! :) I have also lived in the UK.

I look forward to getting to know you :)

I have Whippets, as sighthounds are my true love, but adore Goldens also.

Gabrielle that was a great introduction. We all know here exactly how you feel about Tuuli, because we all feel the same. I have 3 dogs 2 goldens Beau 10 3/4, Bama almost 6 mo and an american eskimo Shelby 8 yrs old. If I could I would have even more goldens, I love them so much.
Your english is really great and it will be nice to hear more and see more of Tuuli. We love pictures here.

I did not expect this, honestly. All the nice replies, thank you for this from the bottom of my heart. I will get to know your names with time and I will be proud to show off pictures of Tuuli, he is by far the most beautiful in our household. That wouldn't be too great if he wasn't beautiful from the inside and I assure you: he is. He just IS, he lives for the moment and he even likes my grumpy neighbour, oh, I learn so much. So again, to all the good people responding: it feels good to be welcomed like this. I do appreciate, really. I need help from husband for making my posts look nicer and the pictures of Tuuli as I am a technical disaster but we will get there finally. By the way: Tuuli and I had a evening walk with a friend and her dog Jule and he does not really look like Tuuli anymore, more like a wet carpet. A flying wet carpet, for it's dinner time now. Sending lovely moonshine from Germany.

Welcome to the forum. So glad you took the time to find us. Growing up, we had a foreign exchange student from Hanover that lived with us for a year. We've kept in touch all these years (40+) and have visited back and forth several times. She's still my "big sis" ! Please jump right in to any discussions that interest you ......and have fun. Can't wait to see some pictures.
