We have 3 golden retrievers: 9 years old (Reno), 9 months old (Austin) and 7 months old (Lincoln)...all males. We lost our 8 year old retriever, Phoenix, in March of this year. We returned from holidays on Sunday and he was gone on Wednesday. He had bloat...we had never heard of it before that and wish someone would have warned us about it. It was devasting for us to lose him so quickly. He was an amazing boy who was just so gentle and loving, despite being almost 100 pounds. We still miss him terribly!!!

Sorry for you loss. Hello and welcome to the forum from Alberta, Canada!
I am glad you have joined us. There is a lot of information here and if you cant find it we can probably answer it for you.
So sorry you lost your golden to bloat. I almost lost my Beau to bloat almost 3 years ago but luckily knew the signs and was able to get the surgery for him. But it was touch and go. Please do not feel guilty about not knowing about it. It isnt a commen everyday thing that happens.
I have three goldens Bama 2yr 2 mo, Pawley 2 yrs (approx) and Daisy (approx 7-8). American Eskimo Shelby lynn and three cats. My Pawley and Daisy are both failed fosters. I do foster care for a local golden retriever rescue.
We were able to get Phoenix to the vet quickly and he underwent surgery that night....unfortunately he wasn't able to recover and passed 2 days later. We now know the symptons and will watch our one new retriever puppy closely and he is built very similar to Phoenix.
Welcome Laurie and boys from Manitoba. So sorry to hear about Phoenix. I can imagine your house is a very busy one with 3 Goldies. Glad you joined and looking forward to seeing some pictures of your boys.
We welcome you, Reno, Austin and Lincoln to this board. I too am sorry to hear about your loss of Phoenix.

I agree Phoenix was beautiful. You also were a very good owner to him. You could tell how much he was happy and well loved. Hello from sunny South Florida! I know my golden Mac would love that snow!
What handsome boy....and GReat doggy. He was fortunate to have you....he is beautiful:)

Oh, we have a very busy household with the 3 but I wouldn't trade it for anything!!!! We love our boys more than anything and nothing is better after a hard day at work than coming home to their wagging tails and smiling faces.......they are what makes our world go around!!!!

I am stricken and sad to hear about your loss of Phoenix to bloat. What a terrifying ordeal, and I bet you are nervous now about the other dogs. I love your city name theme- we had a golden named Raleigh and a horse named Charleston. . .
