Hi everyone!

I am a new member and also new to Golden Retriever's. My husband and I recently rescued a Golden puppy. Jax is now 6 months old and we have had him since he was 3 months old. Jax is a product of a puppy mill female who was rescued pregnant.

First, we love our little guy to pieces. He is such a lovebug and really well behaved generally. Hes semi active, and loves his tug of war games with Daddy. We just moved into a house when Jax was 4 months old, and Jax is just loving the extra room here, as well as the yards. We have taken Jax to a few dog parks, and at first, he seemed lost. Once we met up with a puppy almost his size and age, he had a ball!

We are hoping to get another Golden retriever (female) this weekend. She's a pup, from a breeder we originally contacted before we ended up rescuing Jax. We are hoping its a perfect fit for us and will know more after this weekend. We are pretty excited to have another addition to our family and think that Jax will love to have a little sister to play with. (yes...Jax is neutured)

My husband and I both had dogs growing up, but this is our first dog together and it has been awhile since either of us had to housebreak. Things aren't going as smoothly as we would like, but it is coming along. I will post my issue in a more appropriate thread.

Hope to get to know some of you and learn some things!

Luisa

Welcome to you and Jax. Bless you for rescuing him and now getting him a sister to play with. I find with potty training no matter the age, is to get them on a schedule. Take them outside after eating, drinking, playing and sleeping. It helps with the training. And when they do their business give them big cheers like a cheerleader and treats (if you want)
