Hi all, just wanted to say hello! I do not currently have a Golden but I am looking into the breed for our next dog! I have experience mostly with German shorthaired pointers, and Siberian huskies!

Hope to gain some insight on the breed, and hopefully find a reputable breeder here in CT... :wavey:

Hi and welcome :) I am also from CT.

I and several others on this forum have dogs from 'Sunfire Goldens' of W Suffield CT, Barb Biewer of Sunfire is amazingly knowledgeable, helpful and concerned about the best interests of her dogs. I and at least one other member of the forum also have a 'Windrush' dog, whose line is strongly related to Sunfire and is located in NY state. Lisa Weinberg and Art are also very dedicated and concerned about their puppies and dogs; their get, their breeding programs and the puppies themselves.

Good luck in your search. BTW with goldens, it is very important that the parents (and their siblings, parents etc) have OFA clearances for Hips, elbows and clearances for heart, eyes and thyroid listed. Many goldens can be looked up on www.k9data.com.

Oh thanks so much for those kennel names! I will have to check them out, I would like to make it to the First company Governor's Foot Guard Association dog show & obedience trials this year, there was one other Golden breeder I was curious about....http://www.simplesite.com/cloverdale/591781

Maybe I will get lucky, and they will be at that show!

There will big shows at the Big E (W Springfield MA) on Apr 9, 10 1nd 11 and also Apr 23, 24, and 25th that you might also want to think about.

There is also a golden specialty coming up in Suffern, NY on Feb 26th - the information can be found at
http://www.hvgrc.org/specialty.html
Depending on where in CT you are, this may not be too far.

I flew to CT from Louisiana this summer to pick up my puppy Flip from Barb Biewer of Sunfire. We took the litter to Kathy Eddy of Comstock, because she's a vet and she did health checks. While we were there Lisa Wienberg of Windrush did the puppy testing.

So in my short two day trip I was able to meet 3 well-known breeders and I would recommend them all.

I have a Broadway/Pebwin boy. He was born in 2003. Inge and Rebecca have a Broadway/Pebwin pups also. They're only about 11 weeks old now. Broadway Goldens is in CT and I would get another puppy from them in a heartbeat. They also have a web site. I'm not sure they have puppies available. They are one of the puppy referral people on the Golden Retriever Club of America's web site for CT. I believe Barb is the other.
