I was browsing Kijiji (sorry, can't find the ad now, maybe they took it down) this morning, and I saw an ad that said "Free Large Dog, Want To Trade For Smaller Dog"

It was an Akita/Shepherd mix.

I see those types of ads on Craigslist all the time. Or even better, got a new puppy and the old dog doesn't like it, so I need to rehome the old dog. Or, I got a new puppy and the cats don't like it, so the cats have to go. Seriously?

I feel sorry for the children of people like that.

Yeah, me too. It's heartbreaking.

People don't seem to do any research first. Akita's are known to be huge dogs, why would you get one if you didn't want a huge dog!? And then to just trade it off for something smaller like you would a car or some other object... it's sad.

Fill me in on what is Kijiji? Is it like Craigslist?
I hate those statements that are used over and over agian.
I don't have time for my dog anymore.
My dog is overweight, because I don't have time for him.
We had to move and the new landlord won't allow a dog.
We have a new baby and don't have time for him anymore.
I got a new boyfriend and he doesn't like dogs.

Yes, sorry. Kijiji is like Craigslist where you can sell things and there's a large Pet Section with a "To Give or Donate" sub-section of it.

I just spent a month and a half and 5 rejected rental applications trying to find a pet friendly home for us. It was hard and frustrating but I'm not one of those people who's just going to dump my dogs like that.

(We got approved for a 10 acre farm, woohoo!)
