I'm new to the form and glad to be here. I have a love for goldens and have had several in my life thru the years. Georgia is our current girl she is 6. We are currently looking for another golden either a puppy or a adoption and that's how I found this site.

Thank you. I live in florida and ohio. We looked at rescues in florida but since we have a pool and a dog door we could not adopt thru the local golden rescue and I understand completely. My Georgia always went to work with me when she was a puppy but once she met my fiancé they fell madly in love and I have become the supplier of pool supplies and dog biscuits;) it's ok I'm pretty sure they still love me.

Well, I guess that's one thing I don't understand about rescue agencies is the list of automatic disqualifiers they lump everyone into. My first golden came from a very good breeder who had a very beautiful in ground pool with a water slide for her goldens, and no fence around it. My boy was 6 months old when we got him and he was going to be kept by the breeder as her own pup out of the litter but she found out we were looking and "gave" him to us. He and his mom were playing tug and he would climb the ladder of the slide and down into the pool over and over. It was love at first sight. The pool had a walk out in the shallow end that she used to introduce the pups to swimming in. So I ask why would a pool be a disqualifier for a dog that is bread for being a water dog?

Welcome to you and your girl Georgia! You will just love it here.
Here is a list of the Golden Rescues. There are also plenty of Goldens in shelters! Check out petfinder.

Hi, welcome to the forum, glad you've joined us.

Love the picture of Georgia-if I remember right, you posted a pic of her in another thread and said it was taken with a GoPro camera. Love these cameras, they are awesome!

As Karen519 suggested, you can search on Petfinder.com for Goldens listed in Shelters, Humane Societies and with non Golden Rescue groups.

There is a Group on Facebook called "Friends of Golden Retrievers", it list dogs that are available for adoption or Rescue throughout the US. I have seen several from FL and OH listed on their page.

Here's the link:

https://www.facebook.com/Friends.of.Golden.Retrievers

In the Rescue Section, there is a list of available Goldens for Adoption from all over the US. A picture and contact info is included. Status of the dogs are updated when it becomes available.

ETA:Since you live in OH and FL, have you tried adopting through one of the OH GR Rescue Groups?

Best of luck in your search for a new family member.
