Hello again… it’s been twelve years

Hello all, I am sure many of the folks I interacted with on this forum have moved on, but twelve years ago, this forum was my rock. I was known then as “Tucker’s mommy”. Tucker, our adolescent at the time, had serious issues with impulse control, and I would post my concerns and issues on a regular basis. But with my own research, training, expert advice and many many amazing suggestions from this forum, Tucker turned out to be the most fun, loveable (and mischievous!) family dog. EVER. He lived with my hubby and me, three young human siblings, and two kitty siblings. He was my exercise partner during my stay-home mom years, and became my cheerleader and eager welcome wagon every evening when I came home, after I made the decision to go back to work. He was absolutely amazing on a leash. We moved from Pittsburgh PA to Hudson Ohio five years ago, and our new neighborhood backs up to a beautiful park with a lake. He loved nothing more than to walk those wooded trails with my husband and me most evenings. So, fast forward from 2011 to 2023. We lost Tucker on Sunday. It should not have come as a surprise, as he was twelve, but we really thought we’d have another summer with our Tucker. We had to make the horrific decision to help him over the rainbow bridge after waking up Sunday morning to find him bleeding in our front hallway, incredibly weak. The vet did what they could to diagnose but based on what they saw (tumors on spleen and evidence of internal bleeding) we had no choice. I have been crying for three days. I decided this evening that it might help to reconnect with other Golden lovers again, so here I am. I just want to say thank you for all the help years ago, and I already feel a little better after reconnecting with this group.

So sorry to hear about the loss of your Tucker. hemangio is the absolute worst. Unfortunately, many here have had firsthand experience with that despicable disease. Please accept my most heartfelt condolences.

I'm so sorry for your loss.. Sometimes I feel like the passing time is too cruel for our Goldens knowing what is the inevitable - that it must come and we have to accept their loss... I want to pause, rewind and go through certain moments all over again. It hurts and I cannot imagine your pain. I send you lots of hugs and condolences during this difficult time..

Thank you for sharing your story. Tucker sounded like the perfect golden boy ( aren’t they all ) He was your special rock and is always looking out for you. I know this. I feel mine at many times of the day . I found this forum at the sudden loss of our number three golden Bailey. I couldn’t believe we had to help him over to rainbow bridge 🌈🐾🐾 one devastating day before his 11th Birthday. I will say I stay connected to this breed here that I love so much as we wait for our next boy. I hope you find comfort in the many memories of his life. A wonderful life you shared together. My condolences during this painful time, May every tear bring you closer to peace .
