Have I mentioned how grateful I am

for my Jake recently?

He lies here beside me patiently as I cough, sounding much like an old car on a cold morning. He asks no questions and waits until the spell has subsided, laying his head gently back on my chest.

There is no touch more healing or soothing than that of a furry companion who genuinely loves and cares. I love Jake. He is the only one who seems to care in this household that I am sick. He is the only one who lays beside me as I struggle to catch my breath (yes I have been to the doctor, he says sinus infection with post nasal drip) and not cough as I do so. He is the only one who is not walking around saying that I'm faking it.

If only the rest of the world were as genuine and gentle as our beloved pets, we might actually see a time of peace and love with that ability to honor the spark that is Deity that resides with in all of us. That spark that gives us life.

It is so easy to see in the eyes of a dog, why do we work so hard to hide our own? Why do we work so hard to NOT see that spark in each other?

Our dogs are here to teach us, and they do so well :)

Sorry to hear you're not feeling well, but glad you have Jake to help you through.
Im so glad Jake is taking care of you in the special way only our goldnes can. I hope you feel better real soon.
I hope you're feeling better soon. Sinus infections are a bummer. I had one when our daughter was a toddler so lying on the couch, resting, was not an option.
I have two kids... one 17 and one 12. they both laid a heavy guilt trip on me this afternoon when returning from the beach about how I don't do enough. I'm so increadably sad and sick and miserable and crying and sick and coughing and sick and, did I happen to meantion sick?
thank you all for your good thoughts. :)
Hope you feel better soon and glad Jake is there to ease your day. I love how they just "know" things!
Sorry Liz. I hope you are feeling better very soon and am also glad Jake is there to help. Take your meds, get some rest, and tell the kids to "root pig or die!" when they need something from you.
Goldens are nurses to in addition to being your best friend. Nothing makes you feel better than when your buddy snuggles up next to you and just lays there looking at you with such love.

I hope you feel better very soon. Nothing is worse than a sinus infection. Used to have those alot.
I sure hope you feel better soon. Our dogs really know what is important in life and that is love, patience and loyality. We learn everyday from them. Sometimes I wonder if they ever get discouraged because we are such slow learners. Jake is your angel.
Gosh I feel for you, those are nasty and really make you feel yucky, glad you have a good nurse to take care of you, don't listen to you're kids (I know it's hard not to) take care of yourself and get better soon.

Tell Nurse Jake he is doing a good job and deserves a medal!
Goldens are the best treatment when you are sick. They are just LOVE Machines!
Teens are the worst: selfish snots! Thank God they usually grow out of it.
Hope you feel better fast. Lots fluids, echinacea, zinc and vit c!

I get them every year. Never experienced anything like this though. Must be an alien living in there :yuck:

thank you for the get well quick wishes everyone :)

Jake is my angel. He hasn't left my side in the last three days and has even steadied me when I was about to fall. Maybe I should be raising him as a service dog for the handicapped.
