I came home last night to a limping Nellie. She was limping on her front leg. Well this morning it was a lot worse. I called my Vet and got her in tonight at 6. Now of course she wasn't limping at the vets:doh: and did her little jump around lets go for a ride dance:no: I felt like an idiot! LOL!
He checked her for lyme's and found nothing. He felt around, and pulled her legs, and nothing. The only other thing is Nellie has been itching and chewing her back. He told me to watch her the next 4-5 days, and limit her running, jumping, etc. He gave her a Depo-Medrol injection and said it will help with the itching and might help with her joints. And with that we were done. I don't know if its because it is getting colder here, if she did something chasing a rabbit, or what. I was just so scared the 1st thing I thought of was lyme's. I am glad I got her checked out. Seeing her limping melts my heart, I just want to squish her face and smooch her head:smooch: Anyone using a joint supplement for your golden(s)? What is it, and how do you like it? I'm just asking because there is such a varitey of them at the stores.
Thanks!

We use a combo of fish oil ( which is great for inflammatory processes) and Cosequin DS. I trade off from the Carlson's Finest Fish Oil ( which DH and I take too and order from www.iherb.com) and Icelandic Pure Fish Oil. The Cosequin DS I order on amazon. It is one glucosamine/chondroitin product that has testing behind it. I've also used the Run Free from the Wholistic Pet and PhyCox which I also ordered on amazon.

I use Nupro Gold which is just a enzyme/vitamin/mineral supplement, but I say that to tell you about Nupro Silver. It has everything Nupro Gold has but with with glucosamine, MSM, and ester-c.

Nupro is known to help stop itching, help the coat grow thick and shiny, stop gas, help with digestion, and help with preventing allergies.

When I finish this Nupro Gold, I will probably switch to Nupro Silver.

It comes in a power form and is liver flavored. You sprinkle X amount per day. I split it up between meals. They suggest putting some water with it to form a "gravy" and the dogs love it, but they love it with no water too. Helps make food more appealing if you have a picky eater.

The Nupro website isn't working but here is Nupro Silver on Amazonhttp:http://www.amazon.com/Nupro-Joint-Support-Dogs-Silver/dp/B000084EEE

Nellie is very cute!

We use pure Alaskan salmon oil and Arthrisoothe Gold with Glucosamine, Chondroitin, MSM, and Hyaluronic Acid.

I just had mine's hips xrayed and the verdict was: "beautiful for a 9 year old dog".

Hope Nellie feels better. Remind her to take it easy and use the stairs instead of fly off the porch.
