Took Annie for a little autumn hike last night and had a great time. She did great off leash and always stayed within 30 feet of me. Anytime she got a little ditracted she came back to me after me giving only one command. Halleluja! :) On this particular trail there is a little river that she loves to play and swin in, but because it was 7:30, dark and getting cold I didn't want her in there this time. Anyway as we round the bend where her favorite section of river is she bolts towards river and gets about 10 feet away when I give her a good "come" command, and she immeditely hits the brakes does a 180 and runs straight back to me. Where we have a little party and she gets treats, I was so happy with her.
At the trailhead there is a bridge that crosses the river that she has always been weary of and won't get on it without me. Well she no longer is and got on it and headed to the parking lot :(. Again I gave another good command and she immediately returns to an even bigger party. Lots of love, petting, treats, And a leash! It is nice to know that the last 2 months of "come" training worked, even when she really wanted to swim!

Calling a golden retriever away from water is a major accomplishment!! Congratulations! Looks like you had a great time.
What a beautiful place for a hike!! I wish we had more trails like that around where I live.

Annie is adorable and I love that she is in the lanky puppy stage - all legs 'n ears! How old is she?
That's awesome! Sounds like she's doing great. If there's one command for them to be rock solid on it's "come." Definitely worth the work.

Oh yeah... and I love your hiking path. It's just gorgeous!
Great Job!!! Great Time!!! That's not snow I see is it???
We GOTTA get you California if it is!!!! LOL

She just turned 4 months old. She is a lanky little goofball :bowl: and is always cracking me up as she slides all over our hardwood floors.

As for the trail, it is about 5 minutes from my house and is very nice. Luckily I literally hvae 100's of miles of trails within 45 minutes from my house. That is shy I love SLC. Definately some strange cultural things here, but having some of the best outdoor recreation in the world definately makes up for it!

I agree! Good job.

Beautiful pictures of a beautiful pup and very pretty colors!
That's my favourite stage - the long leg, lanky stage!!!
She's beautiful :)
She's adorable. I love the goofy lanky, all ears stage too. She has a gorgeous area to roam around in.
Annie is darling! Good job on the training!

Certainly is beautiful scenery!
Spring and autumn; lanky legs, floppy ears and faces gracefully turning white - favorite times times!

Great pictures and Annie looks like a sweetheart - congratulations on your being rewarded for all of your "come" training!
You and she are so lucky to have a beautiful place like that to go hiking. I love her age where she is all ears and legs and ready to conquer the world.
She is absolutely adorable and it sounds like her training is going great! Congratulations.

The scenery is beautiful too ..
Thank you all for your nice words for Annie. She really is a great dog, the whole family is having a blast with her.
