Does anyone know of any veterinarians that specialize in Golden Retrievers here in Los Angeles?

I'm not too fond of the place we've been going here. The first vet we liked and was understanding, but the second one we didn't really care for. I got a "My way or the highway" with a feeling of wanting to "upsell" other services. I want a veterinarian that is open to explaining why certain things are done the way they are.

Any help would be appreciated.

I haven't heard of Vets specializing in Golden Retrievers although I go to a Vetinary Hospital with a team of Vets. One of them adopted two Golden Retriever puppies from a Rescue that I adopted from.
Why not ask some friends for a referral? Wish I could be more helpful.

There is a vet who is very involved in Goldens. She belongs to the Golden Retriever Club of Greater Los Angeles. She is also a breeder of Goldens. Her name is Terrie Johnson DVM. I am not sure where she is currently located becaus google shows her in both Pasadena and Woodland Hills.

I have never been to her but many of my friends have and they love her.

I was going to recommend Terrie Johnson as well. She is very nice, I really like her a lot. I know her from dog shows, not as a client, but know many golden people who go to her and I would go to her in a heartbeat if we lived closer.

Awesome, I'll have to see if I can find out where exactly she's at. But that is exactly the type of vet that we're looking for! Thank you for the recommendation!

Tell me about it, not to mention you never know when you're going to run into some traffic jam. I am looking preferably around the Marina Del Rey/South Bay area. I'm open to driving out to Pasadena, but really would rather not drive further east than that.

It sounds like you have a great recommendation. But in case something doesn't work out, maybe consider Laura Gonzales (Valley Veterinary Clinic welcomes you and your pet!) in Simi Valley. She's a family friend, and we wish she lived in the Bay Area so we could bring Arthur to her. Besides being smart as anything, she's wise, caring, and animals trust her. She doesn't specialize in Goldens, per se. Good luck in finding the right match!
