Yeah!
My4Goldens and I are going to the Lab National hunt trials tomorrow! I've never seen a hunt trial, and I can hardly wait! Lab National just happens to be holding their hunt trials right down the street from me, so we're going to go watch for a while.
Any advice on what I should be looking for? (other than a warm place, it's cold and wet here).
Are they likely to be selling birds afterwards? Who would I talk to?
AND....is anyone from GRF planning to be there?
This will be great fun!
(our dogs are staying home)

First suggestion is to amke sure you do not wear any light colored clothing, especially white. If you have camo or green/brown tones that would be best. They will allow a gallery to watch the dogs while they are working provided the test layout allows for it and you do not stand out, light colored clothing.
Bring comfortable chairs.
Bring sunblock (just in case), sunglasses and a hat.
Do not wear any perfume.
Turn off cell phones.
There will be a person (marshall) in charge of checking in the handlers. Find this person and inquire about the birds. If there is anyway possible you should volunteer to help. This gives you a great seat to see the action and volunteers are the first ones normally offered birds at the end. And it is not required normally to work the entire day, just giving a break to someone who is also running a dog is always appreciated.

Have fun and tell us what you thought of the day.

You'll have a blast just watching. I have found that the majority of hunt test people are friendly and eager to explain whats going on. If you can try and watch all three venue's, Junior, Senior and Master.
Stay dry, keep warm and enjoy!!

Oh, have fun!! Even if it rains it should still be wonderful to watch; and if you do volunteer you can usually get a better vantage point to the working dogs :)

Sounds fun! Too bad you won't see many of the red dogs running! Make sure you report back on your experience!!!
