"...the Portuguese Water Dog Club requires breeders who advertise in its magazine to submit copies of hip, eye and heart clearances to prove that their dogs are not suffering from genetic defects...."

I don't know if that's still the case. But it's an interesting idea. I wonder how GRCA would feel about that?

Are you not a GRCA member? We have required proof of clearances prior to advertising for years...

I guess since I've never advertised I've never paid any attention! I just look at the pretty pictures! And now I feel rather silly!

Nah. Don't feel silly. Feel proud that the GRCA has been a model for several "newer" breeds, and the GRNews IS the premier breed club publication. I spent an afternoon in the AKC library in NYC, helping Sylvia with some research, and I can tell you that the GRNews is so far superior to any other parent club newsletter that there is just no comparison.

yes, I think the CCA should be a model for a lot of breeds as well!
