Food for Thought

With all the food discussions going on, I found a very interesting article in the new WDJ about Marion Nestle. She has a pet book coming out called "Pet Food Politics: The Chihuahua in the Coal Mine" about the huge 2007 pet food recall. Also, a book coming out next year called "Feed Your Pet Right". She is an advocate of rotational feeding to ensure balanced nutrition. http://www.foodpolitics.com/pet-food-politics-the-chihuahua-in-the-coal-mine/

From her bio,
Marion Nestle is Paulette Goddard Professor in the Department of Nutrition, Food Studies, and Public Health (the department she chaired from 1988-2003) and Professor of Sociology at New York University. Her degrees include a Ph.D. in molecular biology and an M.P.H. in public health nutrition, both from the University of California, Berkeley (continues below).

Should be some interesting reading.

Thank you for the reminder. I believe the book has been out for a little while now. I've read a few reviews about it. While there is no company that is totally safe from problems with their ingredient supply or quality control, one definitely begins to believe that it's almost more important to choose the company first and then the formula that suits your dog within that company. While I don't have blind trust in any one company, there are a handful that I trust more than others and rotate my dogs' kibble among them.
