Last night our little Spaniel came in with a bleeding paw, minus one toenail. I Googled what to do, and looked on this site, and did pretty much the basic first aid recommended. I rinsed it with hydrogen peroxide, put two gauze pads on it and wrapped it in a bandage that was snug but not too snug. For good measure, I rubbed some Sulfodene on the outside to keep her and Tucker from trying to chew on it.
So far so good. She's not limping and not chewing on it. Spent the day on the couch, snoozing.
Most of the instructions I saw said to wait a couple days to change the bandage. But I'm tempted to open it up tonight and clean it and put on a new one. Anyone know a reason I shouldn't?
