I am fostering a couple of pups for the local animal control. Shoot, I didn't even know our little town had an animal control! But they have no facility, one of the vets will keep them for a few days but when time is up they have to find a foster or put them down.
So... I have two pups, both look to be about 3 months old. And NO landshark behavior! One seems to be a typical lab mix that is just silly and my year old golden is having the time of her life. The other looks to be a pit / rottie (doberman?) mix and has a very dominant, slightly controlling personality. He tend to bite so my goldens won't play with him. Normally I would not put the two together but both are about the same size so it's working out. Besides, can't learn how to be with other dogs if your never with one. Totally supervised of course. They both slept quietly in their crates last night until 5:30, pretty good for the 1st night.
I am surprised to say the pit mix is actually the dog I would pick. He has good focus, learning to sit took just a couple of minutes and comes when called. He will make someone a nice pet but should be placed with an experienced owner. I'm looking forward to working with him. The silly one? Well it's like trying to get a hold of a slinky!
They will be flying to PA, seems they have a waiting list for rescues... nice problem to have. I hope to have them potty trained, learn the basics and walking on leash by the time they go to their new homes. Today is bath and nails, should be fun
No pictures until I can clean them up, right now they are really skinny and covered with scabs from fleas. Both are boys.. one is almost all black and the other is black with the usual doberman/rottie brown markings. Any suggestions on names??
