Hi all, I am quite happy to be here, and I have a question: I just adopted a puppy whose mother is known to be 100% golden retriever. She is all black with no markings and has a short coat. All six of her siblings looked just like her. I had her DNA tested and the company gets partial credit at least: They did pick up the pure golden of one parent. But the other half came back Rottie. Now I don't mind the rottie breed at all, and obviously would have loved Cami even if the DNA came back part Cujo and part Hound of the Baskervilles. But I also want to make sure they got it right.
Here is the little I know about genetics: Goldens carry one recessive black and tan gene, so offspring of this mix have a 75% chance of being black and tan and 25% chance of being either black or golden. But all 7 of them were all black which is almost impossible.
They swear she cannot possibly be lab/golden given the results.
So, long story short, any opinions at all about Cami?
Thanks!
