So.. The little man appears to have eaten something that doesn't agree with him. (or my wallet I'm sure..) The vet and the technicians are bewildered at the x-ray. Whatever is in there, is hard and dense enough to be clearer than bone on the x-ray. Other than being round overall, it shows no shape whatsoever. So its not rocks, docs or socks - I'm told.

One of the tech's told me that she has seen lots of stuff in doggy belly's but nothing that appeared like a hole on the x-ray.

Sound strange? Well from x-ray #1 to x-ray #3, it has gotten bigger. Are you thinking spray-on expanding insulation? Nope. Technician has seen that before.. this is different.

Any ideas?

I'm sure I'll find out in a few hours but the anticipation is killing me. I just searched everywhere he went today (although in the dark with a flashlight) including 3 garbage bags and I haven't found anything unusual. :yuck:

"Not just sand, but handfuls of sand with a couple of really small bits of plastic. The vet is in scooping it out right now."

Really small rocks.. makes sense. Sand would show up as really dense with no particular shape, other than that of a swollen stomach, on the x-ray. Now why did he eat it? I'll have to figure out where he found it.

What a monkey.

I hope that he is okay. We have done surgery for rocks once (42 of them, don't ask me how I know...) and for a squeeker / aluminum foil & 5/8" narrow crown staple "medley" the other...BOTH on the same night if you can believe that!

Other objects have passed somewhat uneventfully.

Any chance the sand was laced with ......... cat poop? That was our first thought. And we all know how Goldens react to that stuff.

Hope your boy recovers quickly.

They're going to get pictures. I can't wait. From the x-ray, I'd say he just ate until he was full.

Of course he picked an awful time to do this. I was supposed to hand him over to a friend on Monday for two weeks while we're in the Dominican. Is there an emoticon for banging your head on the wall?
