Do you have a particular kind/style/material you like? How do you measure? I have a white molded plastic one they sold me at Dog Trainer’s Workshop for directed jumps back when Logan was around 18 months old. I have no idea what size it is because I was extra clueless back then and just took what was handed to me. My current obedience instructors think it is a little wide for him. If it is, it must have been even a bit more wide for him back then.
They suggested I ask a lady who goes to my school, does a ton of obedience, and has Goldens. I do have a message out to her also. Goldens are different sizes though, so I don’t know they all need the same size dumbbell. Where’s your favorite place to purchase a dumbbell?

but in terms of colors, remember there are some colors that dogs have a very hard time seeing. Also many ring mats are green! In field training we tend to use orange ribbon markers because most dogs can't see orange very well at all.
