Donny is now one delighted Golden boy in his new adoptive home! Donny came to YGRR after being held for a number of weeks as a stray. When no one came forward to claim him, the Animal Control Officer called YGRR. Donny was transported to the YGRR veterinarian where he was given an estimated age of 8-10. Donny also received a full geriatric workup, a dental, his YGRR tattoo and medication for a urinary tract infection. Because Donny had so many lumps and bumps, he was scheduled return to the vet to have them removed after he settled into Riverview. Donny "smiled" and wagged his tail with everyone he met and quickly became a favorite of the staff. Donny did have his lumps and masses removed and all were benign. A huge sigh of relief!
An adopter was waiting for just the right senior Golden and had been approved for the Senior to Senior/CARE program. (Comprehensive Assistance for Rescue Elders) This YGRR program matches dogs 10 and over with humans 70 and older and provides financial support for the veterinary care of the dog. It also provides a YGRR volunteer to assist the adopter with trips to the veterinarian, groomers or whatever the adopter's need might be. It was a perfect match! Donny is now happily in his new home where his adopter reports that he is a very good listener! Donny walks well on a leash, has perfect house manners and everyone is very happy. The YGRR CARE volunteer has been busy making sure everything is going well and the adopter is happy to have her assistance. A perfect match for all!
