Hi, I'm trying to find a good breeder in the DFW or Austin areas that would have puppies avaliable in August/September. I'm moving into my new house and have finally decided that I'm going to get a puppy. My mother said that she wanted to help me get one for my birthday at the end of August, but I'm having a hard time finding when litters will be born/ready for adoption. I've had dogs before, and I think I'm finally ready for a puppy. Any suggestions?
Pat Simpson of Scion Golden Retrievers. She has been breeding for a very long time, competes primarily in conformation now with her dogs, although her husband did hunt work with them previously. She is a member of many dog clubs and you will find the clearance information on her dogs.
Her website isn't always up to date with litters so don't let that put you off from contacting her.
We are in Austin and have been in touch with all breeders here. There are a few litters about to be born now and the latest to go home would be with Celebrity Goldens (around August 1st). The owner is the President of the Austin Golden Retriever Club and super nice and helpful. Give her a call. Otherwise, in the Austin area you will have to wait closer to the end of the year to take a litter home.
The Dallas-Ft.Worth Metro Golden Retriever Club does not do Litter Listings. There is a website here that has breeders in the DFW area: DFW Golden Retriever Breeders - Dallas Fort Worth Texas This website is outdated but a good starting point.
Good luck in your search.
