coat question

So, Chloe is soft all over, except one spot. The ridge of her back is coarse, rough, wavy fur. It's almost like she has a ridge! Is this normal coat changing? She wasn't always like this.

Just curious.

Thanks!

Yes...all of mine have always changed their coat from puppy fur to adult coat from the spine down. Your girl is growing up! :)
totally and completely normal and by the way...she is totally and completely adorable!
Yup, that's the start of the adult coat growing in.
Yes, it is totally normal. They start to get a "strip" of adult coat that goes from the shoulders and down the back. It will gradually get longer and longer over time. Goldens don't get their full adult coats in until they are about 2 years old.
Thanks guys, I went from worried to excited! :p
Ya, Sam did that. I called it his racing stripe. Its not as noticeable now, but when he was younger it was an obvious stripe.
Dusty too. He's 5 months now. I'd say it started around 3 months. It is so thick and wavy and beautiful. And now it seems there is no puppy fuzz left :( - even on his sides, it's more adult fur.
Scouts is coming in nicer and faster in comparison to Noah's. Noah looked like he had a bad toupe on his back.
I used to call Bama's a big boy toupee. It was looking funny for awhile.
Glad to hear the toupee comment. That is exactly what my pups looks like. More toupee like when wet.

I could've written this post word for word. You described Obi to a "T".
Hank is almost 3 mos. and his racing stripe has just shown up in the past week.
Yep...I agree with everyone else. Your little girl is growing up :p:
They grow up too fast!! Enjoy that fuzzy puppy coat while it lasts :)
Can you see Hank's racing stripe? It's hard to get him to sit still long enough to snap a picture. He's grown a lot since his avatar pic. That pic was taken less than 2 mos. ago.

Glad this question is asked and answered. I was wondering the same thing. My golden's (5 months old) coat is getting wavy and curly and longer at the top.
Yup, we called it a toupee also until recently...now it is her super hero cape.
