We have a 6 year old that has just lost her ability to jump up on our bed in the last couple of weeks... Granted, it's a King bed and fairly high up, but it seems awfully young for her to lose this ability!

She's plenty active and fast when outside - we live on 1/2 acre and there are jackrabbits and other things she loves to chase down the fence line... Inside, she just sleeps a lot - but don't they all after a certain age?

Just wondering if we should be concerned - or just build her some steps up to the bed? :)

I would check with the vet first. That is very young unless she has had past hip problems? I know after really hard trail runs Abby (five) sometimes needs a boost getting back in the car, but it is pretty high up.

I'd check with the vet. Good luck!

Some people would say you should be happy. It was a very sad day for my DH and I when Buddy could no longer jump on our bed. Having said that ...he was 12 years old ....6 does seem pretty young not to be able to jump up. Maybe your pup pulled something?

iGirl: I would have your pup checked out. 6 is too young for her not to be able to jump on the bed. Selka who is almost 11 can still jump in the truck and on the bed. All dogs are different but this would concern me.

Dakotamyson: please start your own thread and tell us what you are needing from us? I am sorry your boy is not doing well. My boys are my babies also.

iGirl - I agree - you need to have her checked by a vet. It'd be different if she never jumped on the bed like Duke has never jumped into the bed of a truck. But, he jumps on our bed all the time. Except when he's sore or especially tired or ill. Which he was about 1 1/2 months ago - then he just didn't even want to.

Now he's back jumping on it before we even get there! Get her checked, and please let us know what you find out. Welcome, by the way - she's beautiful. I love those eyes. So attentive.
