I'm looking for a golden breeder in New York or PA. My husband I and just recently relocated to the Western New York area and are looking for a puppy. I am specifically looking for the darker color "field" breed, not the lighter color or almost white goldens. If anyone can help - I'd really appreciate it. Thank you!

Hello and welcome!

When I was researching breeders 4 years ago, I visited Corbec Goldens in Nineveh, NY on a recommendation from someone I know who has 3 Corbec dogs (see picture) I don't know if she (Phyllis Walsh) still breeds but her dogs were typically the "field" line. Phyllis is the field editor of Golden Retriever News. There is a website for Corbec but I don't know how updated it is. You can get the number there and call. http://www.corbecgold.com/index.html

We ended up going with a different breeder in NY who breeds more for conformation.

Good Luck!
Here is a picture of our friend with her 3 Corbec dogs in a kayak...

No matter where you get your puppy make sure you get the registered name of both parents and see actual certifications for all health clearences. I always hate when breeders do like this one does and not put dogs registered name or titles on the website. It makes it hard to verify clearences. Can't be too careful!
Good luck, Sara

Goldparent is absolutely correct! Ask for those clearances. As I said, I don't know how up to date her website is. It looks the same as when I was searching 4 years ago. I added the link so that you could get her number to call her directly. I'm sure she will be happy to answer any questions you have.

I did find many Corbec dogs listed on the OFA and K9data websites:

http://www.offa.org/results.html?nu...ar=&rptdte_end_month=&rptdte_end_year=&rptdte=

http://www.k9data.com/verify.asp

Again...Good Luck! The research can be daunting but so worth it in the long run! :)
