Hi, my golden (Damon) recently started getting some black stuff on his scalp on his tail. Close to where his tail starts. It comes off if I comb it but it keeps coming back. We thought it was flea dirt at first but he is treated for fleas and I couldn't find any fleas on him. I even took him a flea bath and treated the whole house with flea spray. (He's an inside dog) The black stuff keeps coming back. I kept researching and found something called "stud tail" which is cause by a skin bacteria infection/fungus on the tail gland. So, I started rubbing an antiseptic ointment on the area that I got from petco. The black stuff STILL COMES BACK! He never bites at it and it doesn't seem like it bothers him. And because of this virus, the vet won't see him unless he has something serious going on. Please help, if you know what this is and how to fix it please let me know. Thanks

Can you try to get a photo of it? Where it's at exactly, and also some of the flakes on a paper towel?
