A transporation volunteer picked Ben up the next day and drove many hours to get him to the YGRR veterinarian ASAP. Ben was cleaned up and put on antibiotics for his skin and ear issues. It was also quickly discovered that Ben had a complete ACL tear in his back right leg. He subsequently had surgery to repair the cruciate tear and spent the rest of the summer at Riverview recuperating. The time finally arrived when Ben was no longer in pain and he "danced" when it was time for his daily strolls with volunteers and staff. A couple was called to meet Ben and the rest is history. His new family says it is as if Ben has always lived there and he has made him self completely at home. This rather large Golden boy has claimed a couch which is just fine with his new adopters. Only sweet dreams for Ben from now on!
