I am taking Riley back to the vet this morning for another checkup on his eye. Last week the ulcer was healing very slow. If there is not much progress today, they will be doing the grid keratotomy. I hope it does not come to this. the last few days he has been keeping the eye nice and open and the third lid has been staying down like the good one. Cross your fingers!:crossfing

I hope it doesn't come to that, but rest assured, the grid keratotomy, done by a veterinary opthamologist, is a pretty easy surgery. He will have to have his eye covered for a week or two, but then, he'll be great. I think I told you, I watched Cody's surgery. Since I used to sell medical equipment, my vets allow me to be in the room for procedures that they normally wouldn't allow owners to watch. Fingers crossed the eye heals soon!

Well, she put the dye in the eye. It glowed pretty good but not real bright like it had been. He is keeping his eye open nice and wide in the dim light. She thinks what is left might be just some scar tissue. Another week of antibiotics and a free checkup next Saturday. She also thinks that the bottom lids might be sagging a little more than usual on both eyes creating a little larger of a pocket. This could give him trouble to water any foreign debris out if any gets in there thus causing him to be a little more prone to infections. She did not notice this when he was a small pup but will keep an watch on it hoping it is just stemming from his ordeal now.
