It has been cold and rainy and just downright cruddy here all week. The sun did come out for a bit yesterday and we took advantage of it. They want to go for walks and play so bad, but it is too yucky, our yard is a big mud puddle. I brought a bunch of toys out for them to play with inside, threw the ball and frisbee in the house for a while (by the way... probably not a good idea LOL). It has just turned into fight fest...not sure how we are gonna get all this energy out of them. Even old Dream is full of pent up energy, she is used to chasing Layla around the yard.

Maybe we should try stair races LOL....

Any suggestions on what to do on those horrible days with two young dogs who definitely need their exercise?

thanks in advance,

Julie

You can do mental exercises. Do some training to teach new tricks. Mental stimulation will wear them out. Dont do the running on the stairs because they might get hurt.

I have the exact same problem here in Saskatchewan (Canada) where I live. It's just been rainy and dreary for days now. Thank goodness the puppies had school last night so that took some energy out of them. We just bundle up, brave the crappy weather and head out for a walk with them....if not, our house would look like a war zone.

LOL ours is a war zone.... Yup maybe tomorrow we will work on some new tricks, although Layla tends to get frustrated easily, and of course her attention span is about 15 seconds.

I would bundle up and just take them for a walk, but they are both afraid of the umbrella LMAO, and this dampness goes right through me and makes my arthritis pain horrible.

Thank you,

Julie

I would just brave it out and take them outside for a walk. It is a given they will get their feet dirty, so I would just have some water and towels in the garage or outside on a porch to clean their feet/coat off when they are done.
