I think I found the breeder I'd like to get my next puppy from, but after a search on this forum, the name of the kennel nor the breeder showed up.

Can anyone tell me if they had any experiences with Joyso Kennels? The breeder is Janet, and she seems to be very knowledgable and on top of things. On top of that, she is very forthcoming with any problems she has ever produced in her litters. My gut is telling me that this is a good one, but it can't hurt to check with all the experienced owners and breeders on this forum. :crossfing

Her website is Joyso Golden Retrievers

Thanks to anyone who replies! :)

To me looks pretty good and the Shaker and Ready Litter..well Ready is my Lilly's sire! He is an absolute love. He is so so sweet, handsome and smart. He has produced many wonderful, lovely dogs. Most of the clearances seem to be in order, a sire Bandit missing eyes, elbows, cardiac, maybe elbows werent done then. some eyes for the bitches are missing from offa ask to see hard copies of them. Think you located a good one but double check with breeder about those missingpieces. Now comes the hard part on choosing the litter :) i personally wouldnt do the Bandit one as their are gaps, but if all lines up with the eyes for the bitches would choose the Shaker and Ready litter or T.J. And pebbles litter.

I went through the website looking at the breeder and I haven't seen any significant red flags fly up that would be a deal breaker. Quite the contrary I see quite a few good things on the site that I specifically look for when I go to purchase a dog. I would ask questions related to the male in the pairing with lucy... I think there are some pretty obvious ones like how he's survived 32 years and what his secret is.... I'm guessing he'll be mum on that little peccadillo, however. The less obvious questions of how did his off-spring fare and did he produce any genetic issues in any of his previous breedings will have to suffice. I'm certain he predates a few tests we look at as mandatory.

Well if you are referring to Bandit it is actuality 22 years since he was whelped. And of course since the date of death is posted on the K9Data link it is not a natural breeding. I believe in some of my own research on Bandit he did have a heart and eye clearance but back in the nineties it was more prevalent that some did not send in heart and eye clearances. Co-0wner/breeder Marcia Schlehr is the same one who wrote the "Blue Book" A Study of the Golden Retriever back in 1967 and is still very active and prominent in the Golden Retriever community throughout North America. Back then elbows were not done by most.
Janet, Joyso Goldens, is typically very open and honest in her dealings with dogs from my experience.

Thanks everyone!

OnMyWay2MyDreams: I'm so glad to hear that Ready is your Lilly's sire, Lilly is beautiful! I will definitely be asking for those eye clearances :)
I'm also leaning towards Shakers litter, she has really light coloured green eyes.

Braccarius: Janet and I spoke at length about Bandit, and she told me right at the beginning that he has passed on for many years. She chose him specifically for the quality of pups that he has produced. Elbows and DNA tests were not done back then, but he does have the other clearances. Those are great questions and if she hasn't told me herself I wouldnt even think to ask haha.

AmbikaGR: have you ever gotten a pup from Janet or know anyone that has?
