It seems my two goldens, Lucy and Jack, as well as Jack's littermate brother who is here 2 days a week, Murphy, as well as my niece's Aussie have contracted this...am awaiting for my vet to call me back but was wondering if anyone here has encountered this---after a google search and reading I am freaked out....and having lost Harry at 2 yrs old and having both kitties poisoned by melamine in 2007 I am gun shy...any info would be appreciated...

I would stop reading and go by what your vet says. If they are on top of it they should be fine. Just like people flu... keep them quiet and give them the meds and lots of fluid. And throw in a treat of chicken and rice if tummies are upset.

Let them eat ice cubes if they are not drinking much. You have to keep them drinking.

take a deep breath and relax.
It's not all that bad as long as you are watchful. Give plenty of fluids, a little chicken broth added in the water bowl will entice some dogs to drink if they don't want to. Vets are putting dogs on antibiotics to prevent pneumonia, which is the only real risk from the flu.
Even though there is a vaccination available, my vet is not giving it because it doesn't appear to be much of a health risk for otherwise healthy dogs.
You dogs will feel lousy for 2-3 weeks from it, be sure to keep them away from other dogs to prevent them being exposed to something else while they're fighting the flu. The good news is that it only stays contagious for about 3-4 days.

Thanks...I do feel alittle better after finding some better info at vet sites...Lucy is 4 and Jack and Murphy are 1 1/2 and Maggie is 1 so I think they are in good shape...Murphy does have a 15 yr old "brother" at his house that I am worried about more now...Appetites seem okay (they are goldens though except for Maggie) but they are sleeping lots more than normal...Jack has put himself to bed the last few nites...and my kitty Hidey (you know why) was up here in the living room and the dogs barely chased her! Here I was worried about the H1N1 flu and my in-college daughter -- didn't think the pups would get a flu! I think I just have some baggage with how fast bad things happened here...I do wish to get over that feeling---hope in time I will...
