Dave, thank you for stepping up. You will be a fabulous addition to the team!
Thank you for your service, tobysmommy. And, indeed, this is a special place and the mods are special people!

Max's Dad will continue to be wonderful in his new, more official, position.
But he was good before, too ;-)

Thanks to both of you and although I'm new here, I've very much appreciated the wealth of support, info, and camaraderie in our love for goldens (and all dogs really). Thanks! Congrats Dave on your new position!

Vivien I'm so sorry to see you step down but I understand completely. As you know you've always been one of my favorites (I think I've always had a harmless little crush on the two of you, I know Woody has too ). Between your love of golden's, photography, birding, adventurous nature, love of the outdoors and of course the Toblerone you had me from the get go. Hopefully you'll still find time to drop by and share all or at least some of your wonderful stories, adventures and photographs. Did you ever get those bee's? If so I'm sure that honey will be almost as sweet as you are. Thanks for all your hard work and making so many of us feel at home here.

Dave congratulations! And thank you for stepping up to continue making GRF one of the best forums on the entire internet.

Sonny, the black lab, ran ahead to make sure there were no gophers or jackrabbits in the way. If you don't give a dog a specific job, he'll improvise one for himself and it will invariably be fun. There's a lesson there.

Thank you all for your kind words. I'll be around - you're not getting rid of me that easily!

Pete, you have got to be one of the sweetest men alive! You and Woody are definitely on my favourite people list (yes, Woody is a people!), and I have so enjoyed exchanging stories and photos with you. Toby and I are both looking forward to more.

As for the bees, we've pushed back delivery to the end of May/beginning of June, because some nights are still below 0, the trees are barely beginning to bud, and there is still snow in the shaded areas. This sure has been an old-fashioned winter! I'll send you a jar of the honey when (if) I get some.

Meanwhile, my very best to you and ear scritches and belly rubs to Mr. Woodrow, and a big "AWRROOOOO!!!" from Mr. T.

Thank you Vivien. What a nice thing to say. And to top it off with honey, a guy can't do much better than that. Old Woody is wagging his tail..."Hey Dad, did Vivien say honey?!? And from those little guys that sting me all the time, OUCH !! Well maybe, just maybe, they aren't so bad after all." I've tried to explain to Woodrow if he'd stop trying to bite them they'd stop stinging him, but so far my advice has fallen on deaf ears and the occasional swollen lip...poor guy.

We've got plenty of bee's out here. Each day when the sun hits what I refer to as our lawn and the dandelions spring open the bee's appear by the hundreds. Woody has learned to steer clear of all those yellow flowers out in the sun. He says watch out Toby, they may produce honey but they can pack a punch if you approach them the wrong way. Digging for gophers is safer and much more fun!

Good luck with your bee's Vivien, we'll sure be pulling for you. And until we touch base again Woody thanks you for all those cyber scratches in just the right places and we too send our very best to the two of you.

Pete & Woody
