Misplaced sticky threads

I see the announcement about the new archive of stickies. Sadly, that means some of the sticky threads have been moved to where the people who need them won't know they exist. That's probably true for the health care stickies, puppy buyer stickies, etc.

Can we have pointers to those threads in both places, so they are visible in the forum where they are of interest?

Thanks.

I did not create a redirect when I moved them as it would have left the sticky topics in the forums they came from as well. It was suggested to move them in their own forum for easier reference and cut down the length of stickys that were in forums.

I understand the motivation for moving them. I'm just concerned that now they are invisible to people who need them. A sticky archive is not where I would look, and I'm a digital libraries developer!

An "archive" sounds like old, seldom-used material. Maybe a "library"? I don't mean to pick at the wording, but it makes a difference in how people think about what is there. Even changing it to "library" won't address the concern about visibility.

Thought of a compromise, though it would be more work. Could you have a "sticky library" associated with each forum? That would keep the stickies close to their subject and still cut down on the screen space used.

Thanks again for considering this.

The only things closely related I could do is create sub forums in that sticky forum. That might get more difficult to search sub forums then posts in that forum. I did change the wording of the forum.

How about this?

What we can do is leave everything the way it is now so everyone can see what was set up. Next weekend I can set up a poll to either keep the suggested forum or to remove that forum and place the sticky post back where they may have come from.

Conducting a poll seems reasonable. If most people are happy with the current set-up and I'm the only person concerned about it, then it should stay the way it is now.

I don't understand. Why can't each forum have a sub-forum of stickies? Or its own sticky library? Guess it's harder to limit what is done in that space, as you have in the new sticky forum? These are technical details that I don't know about, of course.

Thanks for the change of wording in the title.

Each forum can have a sub forum however unless everyone clicked in the sub forums they may not see the important stickies as if they were left at the top of each forum instead. Also there were complaints a while back about the amount of sub forums that this board was starting to have, and that they were not as easy to navigate to get into. So I made some of the sub forums into actual forums instead.

As mentioned before, the weekend of Feb 18th, 2012 I can set up a poll and if at the end of that poll it is decided to move sticky back in their forums and close the sticky forum, I can do so.
