Highlight Older Threads

Occasionally, I'll find myself responding to a thread then come to find out it is like three years old. Any chance to highlight threads that are over 60 days from the last post, or those that originated over a year ago?

Sorry we do not have the ability to do this. If you know of a plug in or hack that allows for this, please let me know. The only thing we can do now is remove threads that are over "x" days old since the activity in the thread.

I always make a point to check the date of the first post in a thread. It's become a habit now. Sometimes though, these older threads are brought back up to further the discussion or give an update...but sometimes it's brought back up by a new member who hasn't become familiar with the forum yet and didn't realize it was an older thread.

I'd hate to remove a thread because it has gotten old. I go back through many of them just to reread and refresh myself about things.

Agreed, I would not want old threads deleted, I have found, many times, valuable old threads that justify keeping them.

I, too check the date, but it hasn't become a habit yet. Soon, maybe.

I agree that old threads provide a great deal of information that should not be deleted. At most I would just want them flagged as being old. The Hooch threads alone should be kept forever.

SO agree. There is way too much knowledge and history of the forum in the older threads. Please never delete them.

I think Yung was just mentioning that the only feature this board has is to delete old posts by certain dates. However this has not been done. I do other smaller boards may do this once in a while to help save server memory, but no need for that here.

I know you weren't thinking of deletion. Admin mentioned it and I was replying to his comment. Maybe glancing at the date will start to become a habit. It has for me. I wasn't even conscience that I had started doing it. It just happened.

Usually threads get popped back up because someone responded to it bringing it back up into the current threads. Either a new member or someone asking a question regarding a old matter with new questions. Or sometimes a spammer. So I look at the original date, original question and last response.
