Getting the Whelp Room Ready
Miss Maisy, my black Lab owned by a non-profit service dog organization, had her ultrasound today. She's definitely expecting a litter of puppies. Due date is August 3. You can see her reaction to hearing the news. With this litter, Miss Maisy was paired with both a Lab and a Golden so some of the puppies could be Lab-Golden crosses. It will be interesting to see if we can accurately guess which puppies are full labs and which are crosses and then compare this guess to the DNA results.
Her first litter will turn in for evaluation in November. There were 8 puppies in that litter. We are excited to see if any complete advanced training or are selected as breeders. (If any of the girls are selected as breeders, I've already made it clear that I want her. It would be great to eventually see Maisy with her grandpups.)
