I met a black Golden Lab cross at a therapy dog evaluation. The dog was serving as the neutral dog for the evaluations. Very nice looking dog (like a black Golden) with a lovely temperament. I was told it was the product of an accidental breeding.

How exciting. Beautiful boys. Good wishes that your girl has a fruitful, healthy, and easy pregnancy. I can't wait to see her beautiful litter.

How long do the puppies stay with you?

Our girl whelps at our house and we have the puppies for 8 weeks, at which point we turn them in to the service dog organization. They have them for about a day and a half. They get their first bath, vet evaluation, first round of shots, and microchip. Then they're sent out to their volunteer puppy raisers who live throughout the United States. It's always nice when the puppy raiser is on Facebook because I get to follow the puppy through its 18 - 20 months with the volunteer puppy raiser. The hardest is when the puppy goes to a prison program because the prisoners don't have internet access. So, you don't get to see many updates. Each prison program has a volunteer coordinator who takes the puppies on outings and for additional socialization opportunities. Sometimes you get updates through that person.
